In Jarama, all looked set for a BMW win for Grouillard and Laffite; their BMW led the race on its Yokohama tires, whereas the Sierras had to pit once more because of tire troubles. Alas, Grouillard overcooked it, stayed out too long and had to push his car to the pits when it had run out of fuel. The car dropped to fifth and eventually it was disqualified for being pushed backwards in the pit area. |
