Andy Rouse's victory in the fourth round of the Dunlop British Touring Car Championship might have been expected, but its execution was far from simple. Rouse's ICS Sierra Cosworth fought tooth and nail with the Istel Rover Vitesse of a determined Tim Harvey, and it was only on the 15th of the 16 laps that Rouse finally earned himself a breathing space. David Carvell and Dennis Leech survived a last lap tangle to take third and fourth places in their Rovers, with Mike O'Brien (Holden) and Mike Newman (BMW 635 CSi) completing the top six, Mark Hales (Escort RS Turbo), Roger Saunders (Renault 5 GT Turbo) and Geoff Kimber-Smith (Toyota Corolla) took class wins, the latter handing out a rare defeat to series leader Chris Hodgetts.
