A heavy downpour marked the end of this race, where Brancatelli had the lead and soldiered on with slicks, thinking the race could be redflagged any moment. When he finally did come in, the tire change went wrong and he nearly went out on three wheels. Dieudonné had been the first to change to wets, but even with these tires he went left and right from the track. Still, he and his team felt that they had won, but the course directors ignored the last few laps and Brancatelli was declared the winner. |
