No surprises after practice in Calder; all Sierras were in front, but the BMW’s were not so far behind as before. Some started on slicks and had to cope with adventurous handling. Ludwig first lost first gear, then the differential broke; but to change that, the Eggenberger mechanics did not take longer than 14 minutes.
Soper and Dieudonné were not troubled and won the race, but the second-placed BMW of Pirro and Ravaglia were only 22 seconds behind.
Heger was lucky to escape an accident at the banking, when he blew a tire at 250 kph; he tried to slow the car on the wall, but was sent back to the track where he collided with von Löwis of Menar; both cars were totalled.
