Finally, Ford domination was cemented by the arrival of the new “evolution” RS 500, which had even more spoilers and a bigger turbo and intercooler. BMW had tested for three days and got into the 2.16’s, then Ford arrived and clocked 2.13 without even changing anything on the car. The new Brno track was of course incomparable to the old street track, but it looked tidy and safe, with Tatra rescue cars. BMW had to settle for class wins now, and with four Cossies on the first two rows it was clear where the win would go. |
