Again, the Australian Holden Commodore made a fine impression; at the start of the race, it contested the lead with the two Volvos, but until lap 25 the Commodore was in the lead. Then, the loudest car on track, the Dutch Mazda 929 rotary, and Kudrass’ Golf both spun in the first right hander after the starting line. The Mazda ended in the catch fencing, but the Golf was in the middle of the track and was hit by the Holden. Out for both, and the Volvos came through with no harm done, with Hahne (Rover) in third. More retirements had already been noted for Ravaglia (BMW), Allam (Rover), Dieudonné (Sierra) and Grohs (Sierra). |
