In a year where BMW lacked any success in the ETCC so far, the Spa race was a welcome surprise. The start of the race saw many changes of the lead, but after 5 hours the Schnitzer car of Ravaglia, Berger and Surer took the lead - and BMW even got a double victory with Quester, Cecotto and Oestreich in second. The best Volvo was the Eggenberger car of Brancatelli, Lindström and Müller Jr in third, hampered by gearbox troubles. All the Rovers retired with the same problem: the distributor shaft failed. |
