Andy Rouse continued to stress the potential of his ICS Ford Sierra XR4Ti with his fourth Group A victory of the year at Silverstone on Sunday, Rouse's main threat, the Colt Starion of Dave Brodie, fell victim to a blown turbo after just two laps, having set a shattering pole time four seconds inside the class record! With Brodie gone, Rouse pushed on to win by a huge margin, as the race at the front degenerated into a procession. Highlights were a fine drive by Neil McGrath, who recovered from a first lap spin, and 17th place, to finish fourth behind Barry Sheene's Celica Supra, and a typically fraught Escort battle in Class C. The latter went the way of Richard Belcher's John Jeffreys Engineering car. In Class B, Richard Longman's debutante Escort RS Turbo scored a surprise maiden victory, after Graham Goode's fleet Nissan 180B turbo overheated later on, the Leicester driver easing up to ensure a finish. Ford, therefore, took all three classes... The only other point of note was an animated duel between the ARDT Alfa GTV6s of Rob Kirby and Jon Dooley, which at one stage saw both spin off together at Woodcote, happily without incurring any damage.
