Dave Brodie turned the tables on a somewhat disappointing year by taking his BBW Colt Starion Turbo to its first victory in the British Saloon Car Championship on Sunday. The Brode's first win in the series under Group A regulations was also notable as the first win by a turbocharged car. Andy Rouse in his Industrial Control Services Rover Vitesse forged ahead from the start but was tailed relentlessly by Brodie until the latter got past with two laps remaining out of the shortened 15 lap race. The event was highlighted by some fabulous scraps, in particular one for fifth place between the BMWs of James Weaver, David Kennedy and Vince Woodman. Win Percy took a somewhat lonely third. Sadly, the RAC-blessed championship was beset by protests once again at the end of the day. Both Brodie's winning Starion and Class B victor Graham Goode's Nissan Bluebird Turbo were ordered under the watchful eye of the scrutineer after the race. The decision on the outcome will be taken by the FISA and for this reason the results remain provisional (note: both cars were disqualified in the end for having an intercooler system whereas the homologation papers stated there was no such option).
