Group 2 was divided on Good Friday, Oulton Park getting the up to 1300cc side of the deal for the SKF Trophy. The eventual field of 20, heavily depleted during the course of 20 hectic laps by some very alarming accidents, got rather spread out round Oulton Park. Dave Matthews did his duty to Kevin MacDonald and Broadspeed by carrying off the overall victory (despite a hairy spin on dropped oil) after Vince Woodman had broken his gear linkage, while Bill McGovern took a tremendous second overall following a last corner barney with the Escort GT of John Littler. |
