There were three separate races for each division. In Division 1, the four main contenders were “Pam” and locals Boshuis, Dijkstra and Swart. After the start, Boshuis took the lead, followed by the fighting trio Dijkstra-Pam-Swart. After a warning, Dijkstra stopped blocking the others, and Pam passed Dijkstra round the outside of Tarzan corner. Poor Boshuis stopped in lap 11 with electric gremlins, then Swart retired with gearbox trouble: following troubles with fifth gear, all the others were suddenly missing as well. Pam kept the lead for ten laps, but he then let Dijkstra pass, a safe second place enough for his championship score. The small class had an even more breathtaking fight between Zwolsman and Brandsma, the latter one winning the slipstream finish. |
