The lead was taken by Salvadori, behind him followed Sears, Parkes and Baillie. Parness lost it, crashing backwards in the trees. Parkes as well as Taylor both spun and lost time. The small class was lead by Whitmore, closely following the 2.4 Jaguar of Kerrison. In the 1600 class, Hutcheson was leading Blydenstein - the pair was close together during the whole race.
The lead order did not change during the race, but McLaren passed Baillie for third. The order Hutcheson-Blydenstein did not change either, with Whitmore not far behind, well ahead of Aley, Shepherd and Byrne. Aley and Shepherd had a terrific scrap, until Shepherd travelled nearly 200 meters on his roof - he was out.
