IMSA blossomed during 1974, becoming the dominant championship. New star Holbert started the year well, winning the first race, while race 2 and 3 were won by Forbes-Robinson and Minter. Gregg won at Ontario, he won the next race too and with another win at Charlotta the championship started to come close but it was only secured at the final race of the year.
Big fields, great cars - it could only be spoilt by works entries, it would seem.
BMW withdrew from the European Touring Car Championship - and would start the 1975 IMSA season with the awesome 3.5 CSL and star drivers.
